DRIVE & SURVIVE

Hot Wheels: King of the Road is a casual arcade racing game for up to 6 players. Dodge oncoming traffic, ramp over obstacles, and bump your friends off the road. Do you have what it takes to be crowned “King of the Road”?

This game was developed as a collaboration between my start-up, Coin Crew Games, and Canadian arcade manufacturer Adrenaline Amusements.

6-Player Mayhem

We set out to create a game that an entire birthday party could play together. With six steering wheels, Hot Wheels: King of the Road is uniquely suited for large group play. The more players who are on the machine, the more tickets the winner will receive. I believe that arcades are social places, and want to build games that encourage and reward friends for playing together.

FROM PROTOTYPE TO PRODUCTION

This game went through lots of iterations before we arrived at the production model.

Wyatt Bushnell and I built the initial prototype out of steel. That cabinet had 8 steering wheels, and no Hot Wheels license. We later partnered with Adrenaline Amusements, who build the second prototype, ft. LED lights and force-feedback wheels. The third and final version includes Hot Wheels theming and only six player stations.

Making a high-performing arcade game is an iterative process!
